After we lost the spinnaker, we really thought things couldn’t get any worse. But somehow, they managed! We repaired the bow sprit for the final time after it had broken off the cross bar AGAIN, and we had a sweet moment of victory as we flew our gennaker for the first time and thought we had found a back up plan that would carry us downwind all the way to the Marquesas. But frustratingly, disaster struck again and we were left with no downwind sail and a much longer crossing that anticipated. We are trying our hardest to remain positive but this is proving to be a real challenge out here. On top of that, the wind died and we were becalmed for three days. While we drifted in the current, we jumped in for a swim so we could clean the hulls and we tried to work on our engine but the problem is far worse than we first thought.
